X-TEND stainless steel cable mesh for more safety in the KiTa Bear Cave When designing day-care centers, it is very important to ensure a high level of safety. In the case of multi-storey buildings in particular, it is essential to ensure reliable fall protection. For this it is advisable to use the X-TEND stainless steel cable mesh from Carl Stahl Architektur. This has already been used to set up numerous day-care centers:

With the KiTa Bear Cave in Esens, a new project has now been added. Here, too, X-TEND ensures an attractive design and a high level of security. The KiTa opened in September 2020.

Fall protection for two-story building

Since larger building sites in the center of the community were scarce, those responsible decided to erect a two-story building. In this way, despite the limited space available, it was possible to provide sufficiently large areas for the children of the community. However, this has the consequence that reliable fall protection played an outstanding role in this construction project.

Open-plan building

Another aspect that shaped this project was that those responsible wanted an open construction. This should not only ensure an inviting character of the building. In addition, it was desirable that contact between the individual groups should be as simple as possible. An open design that allows visual contact should encourage this approach.

X-TEND: the optimal solution for the KiTa bear cave

In order to combine an open design with optimal protection, the Thater architecture office, which was responsible for the design of the daycare center, decided to use the X-TEND stainless steel cable mesh from Carl Stahl Architektur. This is ideally suited to combine these two aspects. On the one hand, it ensures optimal protection. The flexible size allows the rope to be stretched from floor to ceiling in the open areas. The fastening is quick and easy with a CXE clamp. Since the net covers the entire area, it cannot be climbed over. It is also very robust. The mesh size of only 40 mm prevents the small children from squeezing through the barrier, which is a considerable danger with other forms of railing such as bars. Despite the reliable fall protection, the stainless steel rope mesh with a rope diameter of only 1.5 mm looks very inconspicuous. Therefore it does not disturb the open character of the building.
