Fitting protection for a venerable monument

Heidelberg University Library is the oldest library in Germany still intact. Over three million media can currently be borrowed from it, including numerous rarities dating right back to the Middle Ages. X-TEND is installed in the stairwell as fall protection. The mesh is attached to stainless steel support frames made of round tubes and fastened along the landings with cables. The library was remodelled and rehabilitated by ap88 Architektenpartnerschaft of Heidelberg.
