PLENTY OF SPACE TO LET OFF STEAM

Earlier the Dresden Zoo could hardly offer the snow leopards enough space due to a certain narrowness. Today this is different. Under an X-TEND stainless steel cable mesh, which provides safety, the big cats can now romp, frolic, lie around, eat and be admired by the visitors during all activities.

The Dresden Zoo has been in existence for almost 160 years. This makes it the fourth oldest zoo in Germany. Dresden's visitors contribute a great deal to the preservation of the zoo and the care of the animals. Their entrance fees are used to preserve the species and to keep them in a species-appropriate manner. In return, thanks to the X-TEND, visitors can, for example, view the wild snow leopards unhindered.

The snow leopard in general is a holy animal for the Tatars as well as the Kazakhs. In Tatarstan the winged snow leopard is even the national heraldic animal. The Soviet Union awarded the Order of the Snow Leopard to those mountaineers who climbed all the great 7,000-metre peaks on the territory of the country.

A total of around 1,500 animals live in the Dresden Zoo. It is interesting to note that ZDF accompanied the zoo in 32 episodes of "Dresdner Schnauzen" in everyday life.
