Safe environment for air traffic controllers

To make sure the air traffic controllers at Berlin’s brand new Willy Brandt airport can go about their work safely, radar reflection must be ruled out. The X-TEND mesh strips which afford fall protection on the various levels of the five adjoining multi-storey car parks were therefore installed with a smaller opening angle, allowing the radar beams to be deflected in a controlled way. The attenuation effect of the netting has been confirmed by an EADS expertise.
