Dry foot across the dry river

Barcelona is not just a sports and cultural metropolis. There is also a river in Catalonia's capital that is sometimes as dry as a martini and sometimes as rousing as the nights here. A bridge was built to safely cross the Riu Sec, as the river is called, and the nearby train tracks. And to protect against falling in the airy heights, the X-TEND stainless steel rope net from CARL STAHL ARC was tensioned.

The pedestrian walkway was designed in such a way that the view for passers-by is always possible at all times and without restrictions. The X-TEND stainless steel rope net is guided on an edge rope. Cylindrical cable guides provide the necessary hold. The resulting transparent fall protection system offers optimal protection and at the same time ideal integration into the overall architectural concept.

The name of the Riu Sec is due to the drought that dominates its river bed at certain times of the year. The pedestrian walkway with the sounding name Urbanización de la Plaza del Riu Sec therefore leads over the river bed, because in some months the dry river can swell to a torrent. To prevent pedestrians from drowning in the fast water or falling onto the dust-dry floor, the X-TEND stainless steel cable net was attached there for safety.
