Roof bracings exist in different variations. On the one hand, canopies can be tensioned to the floor or the wall of the building. On the other hand, glass roofs and domes are often under tensioned. In such cases, cables are a stabilising element and need not be left out as the static could not be guaranteed anymore without the wire ropes.

Wire rope stiffenings have the task to keep the building parts on which they are fixed in their position. To do so, they have to be capable of taking and balancing different loads such as wind forces and snow loads so that deformation or destabilisation does not occur.

Static calculations

Static calculations

As wind bracing, different forces have an effect on the wire ropes. The dimensioning has to be adapted to the occurring loads so that they do not have any negative impacts on static. Therefore, static calculations are required for cable systems in constructive architecture. Beneath the dimensioning of the stainless steel wire rope assemblies, the calculation also refers to building parts that have to take tensile forces of the ropes such as posts and anchoring elements.
