Lehigh University Pennsylvania: Railings with X-TEND3 for optimal fall protection
The high-quality stainless steel products from Carl Stahl ARC have already been used in many renowned building projects. One of these is the Lehigh University building in Pennsylvania. This is one of the largest universities in the state. Many of the buildings on campus are more than 100 years old. Therefore, renovation measures are always necessary. Since these are often multi-storey structures, fall protection is a particular challenge. On the one hand, this should not impair the historical character of the building. On the other hand, however, it is necessary to adapt the security to the current requirements. In order to combine these requirements with one another, those responsible decided to use X-TEND3 - a high-quality stainless steel frame system with X-TEND mesh from Carl Stahl ARC.

Safe and appealing: design railings with X-TEND

The X-TEND stainless steel mesh consists of fine stainless steel ropes that are pressed into diamond-shaped meshes. The rope thickness is relatively filigree, so that the mesh appears transparent and leaves the character of the building. However, the high material quality ensures high strength despite the low rope thickness. In addition, the stainless steel quality that we use is quite weather-resistant and is therefore ideally suited for outdoor use. In addition, the mesh is very flexible and variable in size. It is therefore suitable for countless applications - from animal enclosures in zoos to fall protection on a helicopter landing pad. At Lehigh University, the X-TEND stainless steel mesh system was used to design and secure the railings. This permanent railing infill system can be integrated relatively easily into existing railings and meets the usual safety requirements for a railing infill to prevent falls.

Some technical details about the implementation

At Lehigh University, a total of 70 square meters of the X-TEND stainless steel cable mesh was installed. The rope thickness was 1.5 mm, so that the measure is hardly noticeable. The X-TEND3 version was used for this project. The proven and officially approved X-TEND mesh system is used for this. Our X-TEND 3 frame system consists of slotted edging profiles that combine safety requirements and modern design. & Nbsp;
The frames are made to measure according to customer requirements and covered in our factory with the X-TEND stainless steel mesh so that they can be installed quickly and easily at the assembly site.
