X-TEND ball catch net

Luxembourg is one of the smallest countries in the European Union, but also one of the most progressive in terms of education. A lot of money is spent here in order not only to keep the learning content up to date, but also to maintain the buildings. An example of this is the new Dellheicht primary school (École primaire Dellheicht) in Esch-sur-Alzette.

The many prestigious architecture prizes that have been awarded prove how imaginative and extraordinary the redesign worked. The IOC, the International Olympic Committee, especially praised the sports hall design as exemplary. At this point, those responsible used the X-TEND stainless steel cable network from CARL STAHL ARC. On the one hand, it serves as a resilient and stable ball catch net, and on the other hand, thanks to the many incorporated sequins, it also serves as an optical highlight.

Floral influences from South Africa

The X-TEND was designed by the architects Witry & amp; Witry also incorporated into the facade design. The network surrounds large parts of the building like a second skin. The South African installation artist Sally Arnold created the overall shape of the taut network and the visual highlights. The sequins act like botanical exploration. The artist herself is known far beyond the borders of her home country for specifically using a floral expression.

The X-TEND by CARL STAHL ARCHITECTURE was stretched over 360 m² around the sports facility of the École primaire Dellheicht in Esch-sur-Alzette. This allows children to kick or throw the ball inside to their hearts' content and full of enthusiasm. Thanks to the sophisticated shape, there is hardly a chance that the balls will leave the school premises unintentionally.
