CREATIVE CABLE AND MESH SOLUTIONS
"Fields of Ideas" was the right concept for the German pavilion at EXPO 2015 in Milan. Sustainability and clean energy were integral components. There were solar trees on the entire pavilion site. There the company Belectric OPV integrated organic photovoltaic modules. The hexagon net, specially manufactured by CARL STAHL ARC GmbH, was used to ensure that everything was kept taut.
The X-TEND stainless steel rope mesh was perfectly adapted to the requirements of the designers and the construction. According to the builders, together with CARL STAHL ARCHTEKTUR they went new ways in this pilot project - especially when it came to combining architecture and photovoltaics.
The exhibition area of the German pavilion at EXPO 2015 in Milan was 4,900 m². The operators spent around 40 million euros to realize the ideas and visions. The design, determined as part of a tender, came from the German architecture firm Schmidhuber, Milla & amp; Partner. The pavilion was organized by Messe Frankfurt.
The idea behind the "Fields of Ideas" concept was to present Germany as a lively and fertile landscape that is full of ideas for the food of the future. Under the motto "Be active!", Visitors to the pavilion were able to experience for themselves how to live an appreciative use of natural resources.
The central design element of the German pavilion were stylized plants. These constructions, known as seedlings of ideas, grew up from the exhibition, where they unfolded as a canopy.

… to experience in a special way, visitors received a SeedBoard. This 20 x 10 cm piece of corrugated cardboard served, for example, as a projection surface for the virtual content. The team received the “Best Interactive Installation” award for the SeedBoard.
The X-TEND stainless steel cable mesh was constructed above the visitors in such a way that the solar and photovoltaic modules not only optimally captured sunlight, but also represented a tremendous visual appeal as design elements.
