Hammerteich footbridge Georgenthal: attractive design and safety with X-TEND

Nature and modernity makes a great collaboration

The Hammerteich in Georgenthal is a popular destination in the Thuringian Forest. Visitors can take a walk on the lakeshore or rent a pedal boat and explore the water. Another attraction has now been added with the Hammerteich footbridge in Georgenthal. The long bridge leads you directly over the surface of the water. This is ideal for enjoying nature and for a relaxed stroll. X-TEND from Carl Stahl Architektur was used to implement this project. This railing infill ensures a high level of safety and an outstanding design.

Nature and modernity: X-TEND is ideal

A railing is necessary to secure the footbridge. This must be very strong in order to reliably prevent falling into the water. At the same time, it's important that the railing doesn't obstructs the view. On the one hand, it should disturb the view of the pond as little as possible. On the other hand, there is a special attraction in this project in the LED lighting, which has an impressive effect at night. Here, too, the railing should not obstruct the view. That is why the planners opted for the X-TEND stainless steel cable net for the railing infill. This is extremely stable and thus ensures a high level of security. Nevertheless, it looks very inconspicuous and hardly affects the view.

The technical details for implementation

A total of 200 m² of the X-TEND stainless steel cable mesh, with a rope diameter of 2 mm and a mesh width of 60mm, was used to fill’ the railing at Hammerteich footbridge in Georgenthal.
The high-quality material is extremely weather-resistant, making it ideal for safety-relevant outdoor use.
