CREATIVE CABLE AND MESH SOLUTIONS
Lehigh University is one of the most important universities in the US state of Pennsylvania. It also enjoys an excellent reputation at national and international level. Several thousand students as well as numerous important research institutions attest to an outstanding scientific level. There are several large multi-story buildings on campus. In order to ensure a high level of safety, reliable fall protection is very important. Those responsible decided to use the X-TEND stainless steel cable mesh from Carl Stahl ARC. This combines optimal security with an outstanding architectural design. A total of 70 m² of the stainless steel cable mesh was used here.
The X-TEND meshmeshis suitable for a wide range of tasks. It is often used for fall protection in particular. It is thus possible, for example, to secure balconies, window openings, roof terraces, helicopter landing pads and many other areas. At Lehigh University, the railing filling was implemented with this. This product is a fine mesh made of stainless steel. This material is very robust and also weatherproof. Even with a small rope thickness it is very stable and offers excellent protection. A rope thickness of 1.5 mm was used for the project at Lehigh University. But there are also other strengths to choose from, so that it is possible to adjust the strength exactly to the requirements.
The architects used the product XT3 to design the railing infill. The mesh itself is exactly the same as in the standard version and is also made of robust and durable stainless steel. The main difference, however, is that this is provided with a frame. This consists of slotted edging profiles made of stainless steel. It is precisely made to measure according to customer requirements. Since it is completely covered in the factory, it is only necessary to install the frame. It is not only possible to make rectangles, but also many other shapes - for example, angled frames and transitions.
