Bridge project attract the eye

As part of "Stuttgart 21", the in 1977 built Neckar Bridge, had to give way to the modern rail project. Between the demolition of the footbridge and the opening of the new one, pedestrians had to take five years of detours due to the construction works.. The new Neckarsteg is for walker and cyclists and hangs under the railway bridge that was built between Stuttgart Central Station and Stuttgart-Bad Cannstatt Station. With a length of almost 170 meters and a width of 4.5 meters, it is slightly larger and floats  6 meters above the Neckar. According to current plans, long-distance and regional trains as well as S-Bahn will cross the Neckar on the upper level of the bridge from the end of 2025.

Railing infill with X-TEND - a style element with the highest safety standards

The pedestrian bridge is a significant step forward for the cycle path network of the Baden-Württemberg capital. The footbridge is not only eco- #friendly, but also an important link between Stuttgart city center and Bad Cannstatt. Our CARL STAHL ARC X-TEND stainless steel cable mesh was chosen for the railing of the Neckar footbridge. With the X-TEND, safety is combined with design. Almost 400 square meters of mesh with a mesh size of 60 mm were installed. Our I-SYS stainless steel rope with a diameter of 10 mm serves as a stable frame construction.
